The Village

St Jean Lasseille is a quiet village with one general-purpose store, and a bar. At the end of the road is the local wine co-operative where the friendly and helpful staff will be happy to introduce you to the excellent (and very affordable) wines produced in the vicinity.

Close by

Excellent supermarket shopping is available at Le Boulou (7 minutes’ drive) and Pollestres (also 7 minutes) while for the serious shopper, Auchan at Perpignan (12 minutes) is one of the largest hypermarkets in Europe.

Miles of sandy Mediterranean beaches can be found within 20 minutes’ drive—at Argelès, Canet-Plage, St Cyprien. A little further afield (but served by an excellent motorway) are the beaches of the Costa Brava in northern Spain.

The city of Perpignan, and also the coastal resorts, offer excellent restaurants at reasonable prices.

Thuir has a public open-air swimming pool and Perpignan a superb Olympic size pool.
